Daniel Bechtoldt, PE — Mechanical Engineer & Co-Founder

Daniel Bechtoldt is a licensed Professional Engineer (Mechanical, Oregon — PE #89334) and co-founder of Pi Fabricators. He leads the company’s engineering, designing industrial equipment and engineered-wear solutions for the wood products, recycling, and manufacturing industries — using solid modeling, CFD, and FEA to validate every design.
Daniel holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University and a B.S. in Material Science completed at Saarland University in Germany (coursework taught in German). Before co-founding Pi Fabricators in 2019, he spent six years as a product and process engineer at Hewlett-Packard, designing ink-delivery systems for industrial printers and cutting one system’s cost by 44% through design and documentation improvements.
At Pi Fabricators, Daniel also builds the tools behind the company’s technical content — the interactive Biochar Soil Map (backed by USDA NRCS soil data), the engineering calculator hub, and the consumer flame-cap biochar kiln. He’s an Eagle Scout and, outside the shop, a runner and hiker in Oregon’s Cascade and Coast ranges.
